Our design process focused on unravelling the rich and complex culture of Japan.

The sake brewing tradition inspired the balance between nature and technology within the interior design. Rituals of gesture, contemplation, mystery, the passage of time, and the sense of touch are expressed through the meticulous detailing and the quality of the finishes.

The dense fog and high humidity characteristic of the Japanese climate have been translated into elements of ephemerality, blur, reflection, and chiaroscuro. Muted, curved ceiling and wall surfaces with tonal transitions of colour provide a soft backdrop for the precise forms and refined details of the furniture.

The surfaces are shaped by natural processes and traditional craftsmanship methods. Every decorative element emerges from the construction itself and the inherent physical properties of the materials used. Asymmetry and irregularity—rough and uneven—pay homage to Japanese aesthetics.

This sensibility is evident in the fused glass evoking frozen sheets of ice, the hand-chipped stone cladding of the bar, the organic shapes of the tables, the charred wood treated with the shou sugi ban technique, the smoked, roughly cut floor planks, the hammered metal surfaces, and finally, the oscillating art installation that levitates above the bar. All elements are original designs, custom-made with great care in collaboration with master craftsmen.

The space has been meticulously crafted to capture the imagination and allow discerning guests to rediscover it afresh each time they return.
